Our History
Our History:
On January 13, 1991, Open Door Community Church gathered at the Perimeter East Presbyterian Church in Tucker, Georgia, for its inaugural service. Open Door began under the leadership of Rev. Dwight Linton with a small group of dedicated Korean-American post-college singles. Rev. Linton had served for many years in Korea as a missionary. By God’s grace, his burden and love for Asian Americans led him to begin Open Door.
Over the next 20 years, God has led the church through both good and difficult times, always providing faithful pastors along the way that contributed to its growth. In 1996, under the leadership of Rev. William Y. T. Jin, our first elders were ordained. In more recent years, the late Rev. Robert Sweet helped train leaders and further organize our structure. As we look at who Open Door is today, we can see that God had a specific plan to guide this little church to maturity.
By God’s amazing providence, Open Door Community Church purchased property in the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area in November 2006. The church is currently worshiping here.
Today, Open Door is a loving community of singles and young families from different backgrounds and ethnicities. Our church is doctrinally committed to the Reformed Faith, yet we are also “opening our doors” to the world around us with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We would love for you to join us, as we look forward to what God will do in the next chapter of our church’s life!
